The Dubai Police arrest two women who filmed and posted a video clip on social media sites showing an on-duty cop arresting a man who refused to follow legal procedures and showed resistance. By this, the two women violated Decree-Law No.5 for 2012 on combating cybercrimes by breaching the privacy of others.

The two women violated the cybercrime decree-law by breaching the privacy of the policeman while doing his job, Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, said, adding that the Dubai Police took the necessary legal measures against the two women.

Article 21 of the decree-law on cybercrimes stipulates that a jail term of no less than 6 months and a fine of no less than Dhs150,000 and no more than Dhs500,000 or one of these two punishments will be imposed on whoever uses an information network, an electronic information system or information technology to illegally breach the privacy of a person.

A jail term of no less than one year and a fine of no less than Dhs250,000 and no more than Dhs500,000 or one of these two punishments will be imposed on whoever uses an electronic information system or information technology to change a recording, a photo or a scene for defamation or breaching the privacy of a person.

 Al Jallaf urged the public to respect the privacy of others by not sharing or posting their videos or photos on social media.

He also urged them to avoid taking photos or recording videos of police operations in violation of the cybercrime decree-law.
