The Dubai Public Prosecution referred an Asian gang of four members to criminal court, for impersonating police officers, brutally assaulting and mugging a man.

Details of the incident date back to last July, when the victim filed a police report stating that he was attacked and robbed by four men who broke into his apartment and stole his vault.

The vault contained Dhs13,000, mobile phones and two passports.

The victim testified that the four defendants had knocked on his door and claimed to be undercover police officers.

Once the door was opened, they immediately attacked the victim, beat him, tied him up and sprayed him with peppers spray. They stole the vault and ran away.

The investigations carried out by the authorities revealed that one of the defendants was a friend of the victim, who knew about the victim’s illegal poker business activity and aimed to get a big score from planning the robbery.

The culprits confessed that they had committed the crime.
