An Emirati woman in her forties was killed and four others sustained minor to moderate injuries in a collision that involved two vehicles in Al Jazirah Al Hamra in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday afternoon.

Brigadier Abdullah Ali Mankhas, Director General of Police Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said ambulances, police patrols and a helicopter rushed to the scene of the collision immediately after receiving a report to this effect.

The body of the victim was airlifted and the injured taken by ambulances to Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital and Saqr Government Hospital, he added. The competent authorities received the accident file so that the legal procedures could be completed, he said, calling on road users, specifically drivers, to abide fully by the traffic rules and regulations and the speed limit on streets. He also called on them to enter a street only after making sure it was clear of vehicles and to expect other motorists’ errors and road surprises.
