Naswar factory seized in Abu Dhabi

The police have released a photo of the culprit at the crime site.

The “Mersad” security team at the Criminal Security Sector of Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with local partners in the emirate, has been able to detect a small factory for Naswar in Al Safra neighbourhood in Al Ain Industrial Area.

The team received the preliminary information about the illegal activity of the mentioned factory.

The investigation confirmed that authenticity of the information and consequently the factory was raided.

The security teams found a number of Asians who were illegally staying in the factory, which was equipped with a specialised machine for the manufacture of Naswar as well as auxiliary manufacturing materials.

Brig. Gen. Mohammed Suhail Al Rashidi, Director of Criminal Security Sector at the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, praised all government departments that took part in the seizure, commending the cooperation of society which enhance the fight against crime in all its forms.

In a separate development, the Dubai Court of Appeal doubled the sentence issued by the Dubai Criminal Court against an Asian to 10 years in jail instead of five years after being convicted of kidnapping and assaulting a girl and impersonating a civil servant.

According to her testimony to the court, the victim said she came to the UAE on a visit visa five days ago and while she was walking with a friend near a Dubai beach, a person impersonating a municipality inspector approached them and asked for their visas and IDs.

The victim told him that she did not have an ID while her friend told him he had an ID but it was not with him.

The defendant ordered him to fetch his ID immediately and visit the police station where he said he would take the victim.

On their way, the defendant snatched the victim’s mobile from her hand, beat her and assaulted her savagely before leaving her in a sandy area and running away. 

The defendant denied all the charges levelled to him but was convicted by the criminal court and sentenced to 5 years in jail.

The Dubai Court of Appeal doubled the sentence to 10 years to be followed by deportation.
