Traffic plans announced for Eid holidays

“Several coordinative meetings were held to map out a plan for traffic movement during Eid Al Fitr holiday. Meetings concluded to a joint plan covering various fields to ensure the security of tourist areas, malls and traffic movement during Eid celebrations,” said Major-General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director-General of the Department of Protective Security and Emergency at the Dubai Police cum Head of Events Securing Committee.
“The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police has reviewed and endorsed the security plan and praised the continuous efforts of the Security Committee. The plan covered all highways, traffic corridors, and key roads leading to Dubai International Airport, tourist areas and malls. Traffic and road security patrols will be intensified to ease the traffic flow and avoid bottlenecks triggered by anticipated heavy traffic volumes at those spots,” added Al Ghaithi.
“RTA has charted out traffic and operational plans, and public transit means to serve the needs of the public and road users. The plan aims to deliver better services enabling the safe and smooth use of public and private transit means during Eid Al Fitr holiday; a busy period every year,” said Eng. Maitha Bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency and Head of Traffic Movement and Operational Plans Handling during Official and Annual Events Team.
“The plan covers Burj Khalifa district to direct traffic movement from and to the district from areas such as Oud Metha Street via Al Asayel Street, or Zabeel bridges via Happiness Street. It also covers internal roads at the Business Bay leading to Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road to ease the pressure on the Financial Centre Street. To ensure the smooth flow of traffic, signals will be monitored and controlled on the Financial Centre Street and Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard to ease vehicle movement during peak hours,” added Bin Adai.
Bin Adai revealed the operation time of rail services during Eid Al Fitr holiday would be as follows:
Metro Red Line: Monday June 3 to Thursday June 6 - from 05:00am to 02:00am (of the following day).
Friday June 7 - from 10:00am to 02:00am (of the following day). Saturday June 8 - from 05:00am to 02:00am (of the following day).
Metro Green Line: Monday June 3 to Thursday June 6 - from 05:30am to 02:00am (of the following day).
Friday June 7 - from 10:00am to 02:00am (of the following day). Saturday June 8 - from 05:30am to 02:00am (of the following day).
Tram: Monday June 3 to Thursday June 6 - from 06:00am to 01:00am (of the following day).
Friday June 7 - from 09:00am to 01:00am (of the following day). Saturday June 8 - from 06:00am to 01:00am (of the following day).
The service frequency will vary from 3 to 8 minutes, depending on the peak hours.
The Express Metro Service will be running as usual.
“Bus and taxi service at pick-up and drop-off points of Dubai Mall will be strictly managed. A sufficient number of taxis will be deployed in the area during peak hours. The team comprises engineers and technical inspectors who are capable of coping with any emergencies during Eid Al Fitr holiday. There will be full coordination with Dubai Police and Emaar to ensure the implementation of operational plans and the required road closures,” concluded Bin Adai.
