UAE Ramadan campaign to assist 2.5 million Yemenis

The UAE has launched its Ramadan campaign in Yemen, which will include a package of charity and humanitarian initiatives that will benefit over 2.5 million people, including 1.5 million children and 500,000 women.


The Director of UAE Humanitarian Operations in Yemen said that the campaign is the latest in a series of charity, humanitarian and development initiatives and campaigns, which is part of the UAE’s strategic humanitarian plan.

He added that the UAE’s intensified humanitarian efforts coincide with the Holy Month of Ramadan and are based on the values promoted by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the directives of the country’s leadership.

He noted that the campaign will focus on providing for the requirements of local people, and will include the launch of children’s Eid clothing projects in the governorates of Dhale, the Red Sea Coast, Taiz, Lahej, Aden, Abyan, Hadramout and Shabwa, as well as the donation of 5,000 food supplements to mothers and babies.

The UAE’s Ramadan campaign will also distribute 100,000 food parcels, including 10,000 parcels to Dhale, 20,000 to the Red Sea Coast, 10,000 to Taiz, 10,000 to Lahej, 25,000 to Aden, 5,000 to Byan, 10,000 to Hadramaut, and 10,000 to Shabwa. It will also fund the construction of 500 water tanks to provide clean water to the country’s liberated governorates.

The Ramadan campaign will also witness the launch of Ramadan Iftar projects, which will supply 150,000 Iftar meals and support 12 bakeries in the Red Sea Coast, baking 50,000 loaves of bread daily.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia also providing a donation of $240 million to United Nations agencies, so they might deliver food and clean water during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
