Quattro and Waset Youth advance at Sharjah Ramadan Futsal C’ship

The fourth day of the Sharjah Ramadan Futsal Championship (SRFC) witnessed four talented U14 teams going head-to-head to be on the list of qualifiers to the quarter-finals of the championship.

The event that’s in its fourth consecutive year, is being organised by Sharjah Sports TV. It is being is held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, at the Sharjah Sports Club’s indoor Stadium, Al Hazana. The tournament will conclude on 19 May 2019.

In the U14 games, Quattro beat Sport4All 3-2, who are out of the tournament after their second defeat. Sport4All’s Mayed Abbas opened the scoring but Quattro, managed to pull one back with Omair Hassan’s goal. Another goal came in quick succession by Ibrahim Hassan.

Sport4All’s Mad Abbas netted the ball in the second half but in the last minutes of the match, Quattro’s Zayed Al Sheryani scored the third goal for his team.

It was a full value match for the audiences who witnessed a 12-1 win in this massively one-sided encounter where Waset Youth thrashed Talento.

Abdullah Yousef netted the ball 5 times for his team Waset Youth. The team found the net four more times through strikes by Abdul Rahman Al Shamsi and Fahd Jassim. Salman Nabil, Salman Al Rashed and Khaled Al Amiri continued pressing hard, with one goal each. Mohammed Ahmed scored the consolation goal for Talento.

The knock-out games will take place from Thursday between qualified teams from the four groups who are in the race for the championship title.

The third day of the Championship also witnessed a stern competition between eight senior teams in the race to the quarter-finals.

In a fiercely fought match, the Emperor edged past Al Bahiri by 3-1. In the first half, its Kazakh striker Urazof Pirshan opened the scoring, which was followed by another goal minutes later. Al Bahri also continued pressing hard scoring their goal.

In the second half, the competition intensified. Al Bahri’s Hameed Naser scored the second goal for the team but they were taken by surprise when the Emperor’s Khaled Bihole netted the ball in the 11th minute, with the match ending 3 goals to 1.

In the second match on third day, the ABL group dominated the match proceedings against Al Wahadan. The ABL group comfortably defeated Al Wahadan with an overwhelming margin of 7 goals to nil.

In the third game, Khorfakan maintained the pressure on Al Shabab when its striker Ahmed Al Nakbi opened the scoring, that was followed by 9 subsequent strikes from its players.

In the last few minutes of the match, Al Shabab’s Jalal Saeed scored the only goal for his team. Thus, Khorfakan won the round with a 9-1 record.

The final match brought together Sharjah Police, leader of Group A, and Fuhood Zabeel. The fired-up camps played well but both teams drew nil-nil.

In the eighth minute of the second leg, Nofal Al Taei shot a cannonball that Saud Al Sheeba could not save, scoring the match’s first goal for Sharjah Police. In a hard-fought match, before the end of the second leg, Jonathan Cezar equalised with a shot to the top left corner of the goal, resulting in a draw.

The SRFC organising committee is calling on sports enthusiasts and fans to support players of all participating teams.

The initiative is aimed at boosting enthusiasm and enhancing the athletic fervour.

“The popularity of the event has been rising steadily over the years and this year too, the current edition of the tournament has brought 18 teams together, including 12 senior squads and six U-14 sides,” said Khaled Ibrahim Alhammadi, media manager of the Sharjah Ramadan Futsal Championship.

“Through this championship, many young soccer players are being groomed to excel in national, and regional competitions, across sports disciplines,” he added.

“We are planning to increase the number of teams, add new sports and competitions for the next edition of the Sharjah Ramadan Futsal Championship,” Alhammadi added.
