Kelbrick and Kang excel at Order of Merit Championship

The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) hosted the 2019 EGF Order of Merit Championship (OOMC) at Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club on the weekend.

Leading the way in the Men’s and Ladies Division and completing a strong season with convicting victories were Steven Kelbrick and Hyeonji Kang.  

The EGF Order of Merit Championship was a three-day event for the Men’s and Ladies Divisions, which was held World Amateur Golf Ranking points and a two-day event for the Junior Division.

The fields will be composed of the top supporters of Men’s and Ladies’ qualifying rounds and top-placed Juniors in EGF Order of Merit Season.

Winning the Men’s Division was Steven Kelbrick firing rounds of 68-68-67 for a championship total of 203; 7-under-par.

elbrick looked comfortable all weekend as he collected 17 birdies over the three rounds. Kelbrick has had a fantastic season by not only winning the championship but as well as the overall season EGF Order of Merit by 57 points and competing in the new Jordan Mixed Open.

Finishing as the Runner-Up in the Men’s Division was Ziang Xu. Ziang shot rounds of 71-67-70 for a total of 208; two-under-par. – 75 for a championship total of 148. Seven shots back and finishing in Third Place with scores of 74-71-70 (215 total) was UAE National Team Member Ahmed Skaik.

Dominating the Ladies Division and winning the championship by six strokes was Hyeonji Kang. Kang has a historic season by winning the not only the overall season Order of Merit Ladies Gross Division but also winning the Junior Girls Gross Division and tied for first in the Junior Girls Nett Division. Kanf shot rounds of 73-66-66 for a championship total of 205; five-under-par.

Chantal El Chaib was the Runner-Up in the Ladies Division. Katie shot rounds of 72-69-70 for a 211 total; one-over-par. Rounding out the top-three, coming in Third Place was Natalli Gupta. Natalli shot rounds of 72-74-69 for a 215 total.
