After accepting the election defeat, it is an honest choice on the part of Rahul Gandhi to step down and remain as a party member. The Congress should accept it and find a suitable alternative, most probably not from the Gandhi family.  

It would be good if Shashi Tharoor is asked to lead the party at this difficult time.  Much more than a politician, Tharoor is well known to people of India as well as the international community.  

I’m sure, Tharoor could win the hearts of people associated with the party and also would help bring in more supporters to strengthen the century-old Indian National Congress.
