In a few days, one of the world’s glitziest and highly anticipated film festivals will start on the French Riviera. We are taking a look at what movies are going to be shown, which directors are vying for the coveted Palme d’Or as well as which stars will be there.

Opening the 72nd Cannes Film Festival will be American director Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die. The film stars some big names including Selena Gomez, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Chloe Sevigny. The story centres around the citizens of a little town who find themselves under attack by flesh-eating zombies when the dead arise from their graves.

The Dardenne brothers are back again with their latest title, Young Ahmed, a film about a radicalised boy who hatches a plot to kill his teacher. Nominated for the Palme d’Or; the Belgian brothers will make history if they win for the third time having previously won in 1999 for Rosetta and in 2005 for L’Enfant.

Also up for the Palme d’Or is Quentin Tarantino with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Set in 1969 Los Angeles, the movie tells the tale of a faded TV actor and his stunt double who try to achieve success in the film industry. Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, James Marsden and Dakota Fanning are a few of the names in the all-star cast.
