UAE is a clear winner when it comes to forward-looking strategies. The launch of the world’s first virtual Ministry of Possibilities is just another worthy addition, something that could be a benchmark for the world in the near future (“Sheikh Mohammed launches Ministry of Possibilities,” April 23, Gulf Today).

Over the last couple of years I have noticed that the UAE has implemented multiple game-changing policies aimed at enhancing government-people interaction. A few years ago it had launched another first in the world – Ministry of Happiness. As an expat based in Dubai for the last seven years, I have been a silent beneficiary of that exercise. Public services have been streamlined and computerized and as a consumer, it saves me loads of time and money.

I have also noticed the harmonious blend of government programmes and policies into day to day functioning of crucial services, which in turn has translated into a great degree of happiness among the peoples of this country. As expats we are always wary of getting the not-so-favourable treatment in locally managed establishments. But that is not be seen anywhere in the UAE. We are treated equally alongside the locals and that is remarkable. Apart from UAE being like a second home for expats like me, it is also a preferred destination for business entities. I recently read that UAE ranks higher than countries like Spain and Italy in terms of stability and is one of the most stable countries in the Arab World. Kudos to the leadership.
