The launch of such a campaign comes in the wake of a collaboration between the Sharjah Police and Sharjah Charity International.

In its keenness to maintain security and safety, and boost the positive behaviour of various segments of society, the Community Police Department of the Sharjah Police, in cooperation with Sharjah Charity International, have launched a joint campaign under the slogan “Aman Ya Ramadan”, which aim at spreading awareness about different traffic and security issues, and the ways to utilise the security services on smart applications.

This was addressed during a press conference that was attended by various media representatives at the Police Headquarters, in the presence of Brig. Mohammed Rashid Al Bayat, Director General of Police Operations, Abdullah Bin Khadem Al Suwaidi, Board Member and Executive Director of Sharjah Charity International, Brig. Arif Bin Hodeib, Director of Media and Public Relations Department, Colonel Ahmad Al Marri, Director of the Community Police Department, and a number of heads and directors from the police staff.

The launch of such a campaign comes in collaboration between the Sharjah Police and Sharjah Charity International, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, where Ramadan tents witness a large turnout of Asian workers that are targeted by security awareness. Moreover, 44 Ramadan tents have been set in Sharjah and central and eastern regions, with an estimated number of 50,000 to 60,000 attendees, who will be addressed in three different languages: Arabic, English and Urdu. The lectures will be attended by five teams of police officers, with 94 lectures scheduled in various parts of the Emirate.

The awareness campaign will cover traffic aspects and behaviour related to abidance by the traffic laws, and introducing people to the ways of using security services provided through smart applications.

Earlier, Maj. Gen. Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, unveiled a noise detector that is customised to control the vehicles that cause noise in the residential areas.

The device will be deployed in the residential areas in the city of Sharjah, the eastern and middle areas in the emirate, to ensure quietness and reduce disturbance caused by some vehicles in the residential neighbourhoods.

Maj. Gen. Al Zari hoped to expand deployment of modern noise control systems in order to curb violations of noise, disturbance and recklessness driving, in addition to reducing accidents and risks that result from such irresponsible conduct.
