An Asian woman in her 20s died of severe injuries she sustained after being run over by a vehicle driven by a citizen in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday.

According to Colonel Ahmad Al Sam Al Naqbi, Acting Director-General of the Central Operations Room of the RAK Police, the woman died on the spot.

Captain Hamad Ali Al Shehhi said the Central Operations Room received information abouth the accident on Thursday evening.

Al Shehhi added police patrols and authorities moved to the scene where initial investigations proved the woman was running from an internal road to the highway.  She was run over by a vehicle as she entered the highway.

The woman’s body was transferred to hospital for investigation. Later the body was to be handed over to her relatives. The file was referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures.

Al Shehhi called on pedestrians to abide by the traffic laws and regulations, which ensure safety for all.

He also urged motorists to pay attention to the road while driving to avoid such tragic incidents and also to adhere to speed limits.
