ABU DHABI: Most areas in the country on Tuesday witnessed a dusty weather in general caused by the active southeasterly winds, which reached 55 km/h sometimes. This led the horizontal visibility to drop to less than 2,000 metres.

The country has been affected by a low surface air that is extending from the south of Saudi Arabia accompanied by a low air from the west driving clouds from the centre and south of the KSA towards the UAE at times, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The lowest temperature on Tuesday was monitored in the Jebel Jess area of Ras Al Khaimah at 14.3 ºC, while the highest was in Mekhairaz area of Al Dhafra Region, Abu Dhabi at 37.1 ºC, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Meanwhile, the Centre expects the weather on Wednesday to be partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of rainfall over various parts and a drop in temperatures.

The winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly, moderate to active and strong at times stirring dust and sand through the exposed parts. Horizontal visibility may remain low as result of the dusty winds. The sea will be very rough in the Arabian Gulf and rough in the Sea of Oman, the NCM added.

The NCM expects that the temperatures on Wednesday will be in the range of 22˚C-27ºC in Abu Dhabi, 21˚C-25ºC in Dubai, 21˚C-27 ºC in Sharjah, 20˚C-26 ºC in Ajman, 21˚C-26 ºC in Umm Al Quwain, 21˚C-25 ºC in Ras Al Khaimah, 22˚C-27 ºC in Fujairah and 21˚C-29 ºC in Al Ain.

Tuesday was warmer in Sharjah during the day., according to a staff reporter. This was different to the weather last week, when showers, marked by thunder and lightning, brought the temperature down by a few notches. People made the most of the pleasant weather by making suitable plans to hit the outdoors.

A pleasant weather, marked by a steady, intermittent drizzle that tailed an early morning downpour, greeted residents of the UAE on Friday. Overcast skies and wet roads were the order of the day as the temperature went marginally south. Fresh winds added to the zest of the people who were only to keen to savour the refreshing, enjoyable outdoors rather than remain confined to the four walls of their homes. Traffic was slow, but that did not test the patience of the motorists.

In the afternoon, strong winds had a commanding presence. However, by the evening, the intensity of the winds had lessened to a considerable degree. Clouds like huge wads of cotton dotted the sky but there was no indication of rain.
