Oman will welcome to its capital city Muscat a diverse field of triathletes from across the Gulf Region and Middle East to take part in the prestigious 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 scheduled to be held on Feb.4.

For triathletes based in the GCC and Middle East, the IRONMAN 70.3 Oman Muscat will provide the ideal kick-start to the year, as it is scheduled to be the first and largest series event in the region for the 2023 season.

IRONMAN 70.3 Oman Muscat will welcome athletes of all experience levels (including some of the world’s elite men and women triathletes) to race against the clock on a route that includes the series’ standard 1.9km swim, 90km road bike, and final 21.1km run – for a total race distance of 113 km, or “70.3” miles.

For 2023, the route will entail a swim in the spectacular Sea of Oman waters from the beach-side district of Shatti Al Qurum, followed by a bike and run route that together take athletes through Muscat’s magnificent urban settings and historic Old Quarter, as well as the beautiful mountain and desert terrain surrounding the capital. In addition, with the race’s start, transition zone and finish line all situated at the same location at Shatti Al Qurum, triathletes, support crews and spectators can look forward to an action-packed race atmosphere in one central “stadium’’ style location.

The 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 Oman triathlon is organised by the leading multi-sport events company, Triathlon Middle East LLC (TRI.ME).

The title sponsor of the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 Oman Muscat is Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, while Sohar International are partnering with the event as the Official Sponsor. The event’s co-sponsors include Oman’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth; the Muscat Municipality; and the Oman Triathlon Committee.

In the lead up to the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 Oman Muscat, Mohammed Al Obaidani, Chief Executive Officer, TRI.ME, welcomed all athletes from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and other countries in the Middle East region who will be travelling to Oman for this landmark sporting occasion.

“The IRONMAN 70.3 Oman Muscat has a substantial following throughout the world, and we are extremely excited to welcome all regional and international athletes into the Sultanate of Oman for what is scheduled to be the first and biggest event of its kind in the Middle East for the 2023 season.

“The GCC especially has a passionate endurance sports following and is also home to large number of elite-level triathletes, so we are confident that the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 Oman Muscat will be a truly spectacular and memorable event, come Feb.4,” Obaidani explained.

While the flagship 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 OMAN Muscat will take place on February 4, the event will also include the always-popular IRONKIDS Run on February 3 for boys and girls aged three to thirteen.

The IRONMAN 70.3 Race Village, which will run from Feb.2 to 4, also promises to provide an action-packed hub of entertainment for competitors and fans.
