Such is the aura of the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Mumbai Indians (MI) that their presence was felt at the on-going Pakistan Super League (PSL) also.

Mumbai Indian were in news once again 10 days after winning the title.

In a hilarious turn of the events, Karachi Kings’ batsman Sherfane Rutherford was seen wearing Mumbai Indians’ gloves while batting against Multan Sultan in the first qualifier.

Rutherford plays for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and Karachi Kings in PSL. The West Indian batsman came out in the middle with Mumbai Indians gears for which both he and the owners of the Karachi Kings were heavily trolled on the Twitter.

Rutherford did not do anything worth remembering in the match but he came into the limelight for using wrong gloves. He did not feature in any of the Mumbai Indians’ match in IPL yet he was an integral part of the squad as a back-up in case of injuries.

Mumbai Indians won the record fifth IPL title on Nov. 10, 2020 by beating Delhi Capitals in the final in Dubai. Due to pandemic, the 13th edition of the IPL was shifted to Dubai.

Meanwhile, PSL was resumed to complete the last season, which was abandoned mid-way due to the out break of coronavirus in the middle of the tournament.

It will be interesting to see if Rutherford will again come out in the Mumbai Indians gears in the final against Lahore.
