Number of buildings using Empower’s district cooling increase

DUBAI: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling service provider, has revealed that the number of buildings using its district cooling services across Dubai has reached 920 in 2016, an increase of 13.6 per cent year-on-year 2015.

According to Empower, there are many reasons behind this increase; one of which is the increase in new projects using the company’s services last year, as well as the increase in its operational capacity. Moreover, more clients including building owners and developers prefer district cooling services over the conventional cooling systems.

Empower explained that expectedly the efficiency of its services keeps growing up alongside the increase in the numberof buildings using its services.

“District cooling service represents the future of the chilling services in the world. During the coming years, we will see more building owners and developers converting from conventional chilling methods to district cooling, not only in Dubai and the UAE, but also globally. The international real estate industrynow requires efficient, affordable and eco-friendly cooling services,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

“The ongoing increase in the number of buildings using Empower service comes as good yet expected. As the largest district cooling services provider, Empower boasts the largest market share in Dubai, which is the result of its great service, clients’ trust, and the company’s continuous research to develop better cooling technologies so as to improve the service and preserve the environment. Empower succeeded in fulfilling its goals in using affordable, efficient and eco-friendly methods during the past years. Recently, the company has launched many cooling plants and increased its operational capacity to keep up with its growth,” continued Bin Shafar.

“We expect to register more growth and to maximise the coverage of the servicesto reach a whole new set of buildings in the coming years. The clients are now more aware of the efficiency of Empower’s services. We always receive requests from building owners to convert into the district cooling systems. We at Empower aretechnically and practicallywell-prepared to meet the future requirements by increase in number of buildings we have to serve,” H.E Bin Shafar concluded.

Empower currently operates more than 1.25 million refrigeration tonnes, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World trade Centre Residences, Dubai Design District, among others.
