DUBAI: The second edition of Emirates International Forensic Conference Exhibition will accentuate the paramount role of science in offering conclusive evidence during the pursuit of justice.

This was announced during a press briefing held at the Dubai Police General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology in cooperation with INDEX Conferences & Exhibitions, member of INDEX Holding.

The conference and exhibition will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

The event and its parallel workshops will start on 9th of April and continue until 11 April 2018 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center under the theme: “Science Serving Justice.”

The Assistant Commander-in- Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, stressed, “Dubai Police are keen to pace with technical and scientific developments and advances.

“In Dubai, and the UAE in general, we no longer find it hard to solve mysterious crimes thanks to remarkable efforts our forensic department officers and doctors have been rendering since 1980s.

He said, “Such achievements can only be attained through these meetings and conferences during which professionals, doctors, technicians and crime scene experts exchange skills and enrich knowledge.”

The Dubai Police Forensic Science and Criminology Department Director, Major-General Dr. Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri said, “We aim at keeping abreast of the latest international forensic and criminology practices.”

“Our major objective is combating distrust for the sake of justice. In the justice system, confessions and testimonies are mere supportive evidences to a crimnal case but not conclusive like forensic evidence.

“We also seek to incorporate new types of evidence search as eye scans results in addition to analysing suspects’ movements and smell. This will help give ultimate evidence in convicting perpetrators.”

The Chairman of INDEX Holding and Executive Chairman of Emirates Forensic, Dr Abdul Salam Al Madani said, “The event will highlight the effort of scientists and specialists in the attainment of justice.”

“The international event which is expected to attract more than 2, 000 participants, exhibitors, visitors and speakers will contribute to raising awareness among authorities, communities and countries.”

The press briefing was graced by the Dubai Police Security Awareness Department Director Brigadier Dr. Jasem Khalil Mirza and attended by a number of senior officers, individuals and media professionals.

The Director of Training Research & Development Department Dr. Fuad Ali Tarbah said, “The conference will host 46 experts, 7 workshops, 20 exhibitors, and more than 30 scientific lectures and 70 summaries.

“University students will have the opportunity to present research papers through oral and poster presentations and the opportunity to participate in the Young Scientist Award Competition.”

The conference will tackle 3D printing of tools, automatic facial detection of missing persons, injuries in fire deaths, digital investigations, painkillers, forgery, psychology and cybercrimes among other fields of concern.

The conference will also discuss mechanisms of law enforcement, ethics, education, mass disasters, fire arm and tool marks, crime scene investigation, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear crimes.
