DUBAI: The Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), in celebrating the country’s Independence Day, formally unveiled the model of the Pakistan Centre project in the presence of prominent community members and guests.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the Pakistan Centre, a community project comprising a medical centre, fitness centre, theme restaurant, offices, mosque and other facilities, was part of the celebrations which over 200 guests attended.

The chief guest at the event was Dr Abdul Bari Khan, Co-founder and CEO of Indus Hospital, Karachi, Khaled Al Kamda, Director General, Dubai’s Community Development Authority (CDA), Suhail Al Zarooni, local businessmen and a large number of prominent dignitaries from the Pakistan community residing in the UAE.

Addressing the community, Dr Faisal Ikram, General Secretary, said that the project – with an estimated cost of Dhs12 million – engaged the community through the concept of “own a brick” by donating Dhs1,000.

“The community already extended huge support for the Pakistan Auditorium, which has been pending for more than 10 years, but now we are organising events in the newly established multi-purpose hall which have also benefited the community,” he said.

The model of the project was unveiled by Dr Bari and Khaled Al Kamdah.

President PAD Dr Ziaul Hassan presented a commemorative plaque to distinguished guests including Dr Abdul Bari Khan, Khaled Al Kamdah, Sohail Al Zarooni, Dr Faisel Aziz, Charge D’Affaires at Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Samar Javed, Acting Consul General and Sohail Al Muhairi from Dar Al Bar Society.

Dr Ziaul Hassan, President of the PAD, thanked the community for their support.
