DUBAI: Emirates Islamic Bank has launched a food distribution initiative in cooperation with Beit Al Khair Society, which will involve the weekly distribution of food to needy people across the UAE.
Awatif Al Harmoudi, general manager of operational quality and processes at Emirates Islamic Bank, said that helping the needy is a fundamental pillar of the concept of Islamic Finance. “We are fully committed to providing support and assistance to all those in need through all the available means. Our cooperation with Beit Al Khair Society confirms our support to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving.”
For his part, Abdeen Taher Al-Awadi, Executive Director of Beit Al Khair Society, expressed his pleasure about the launch “Food for All” initiative, adding that the body is delighted that the initiative has been launched in collaboration with Emirates Islamic Bank to provide a vehicle of food, which will move around the different emirates weekly, distributing food snacks to workers. The move aims to support the deserving segments of society, encourage them and relieving them of their food challenges.
Al-Awadi added that the food truck will be launched in conjunction with the launch of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai’s initiative, UAE Food Bank.
The development is an optimistic start for more charity programmes and projects that will be witnessed during the course of the year in support of Sheikh Khalifa’s declaration. Food distribution to the needy is an important programme on which the charity body has spent over Dhs77m in the last four years.
