International Forensic Scientific Council launched

DUBAI: The first edition of Emirates International Forensic Science Conference and Exhibition concluded successfully on Tuesday at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the launch of the International Forensic Scientific Council in Dubai.

The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council. It was a great success with an unprecedented number of visitors and participants that reached up to 3,000 over three days.

Participants praised the degree of efficiency and the high level of scientific and research papers and scientific sessions that were presented during the conference. The second edition of Emirates Forensic will be held from 18–20 March 2018 in Dubai.

The executive council of Emirates Forensic announced the launch of the International Forensic Scientific Council in Dubai during the last day of the event. The council aims to support scientific research and studies in the field of forensic science to fight crime and ensure peace and prosperity.

The first meeting of the International Forensic Scientific Council was held on Tuesday on the sidelines of the conclusion of Emirates Forensic, and it was attended by several participating members from the UAE, Kuwait, USA, Germany, UK, Italy, Korea, Romania, Portugal, Ireland, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, France, Scotland, and Australia. 

The meeting discussed plans and strategies that will be implemented at the conference, exhibition and workshops. The council also launched a scientific journal to publish all student research papers. It will form an important scientific reference for all competent authorities in this field.

The Emirates Forensic Night was held on the second day of the event at Grand Hyatt, and it was attended by Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Investigation, Major-General Dr Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri, Director-General of Dubai Police’s Forensic Science and Criminology Department, and officials and heads of delegates.

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, along with the officials, presented certificates of appreciation to those who had contributed towards the success of Emirates Forensic.

The conference on its last day featured a number of important topics in the field of forensic science that included: The future of bite mark analysis as forensic evidence in light of the Innocence Project’s recent exonerations, UAE DVI Team Active Participation in Dental Identification, Managing and Mining Data in a Forensic Science Operation, among others.
