AD funds Dhs165m for internal road developments

ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM) plans to develop the roads around the coastal area, between Ras Ajij and Al-Tawila, at a total cost of Dhs165 million. This includes reformation of irrigation and sewerage services, development of the electrical network and provision of safe and sustainable roads. The move is also in line with the Abu Dhabi’s developmental plans aimed at enhancing the traffic safety around the internal roads, further reducing accidents, and ensuring safety for road users especially while driving at night.

The project includes two phases. The first which will cost Dhs105 million, includes the construction of a three-lane road with a length of 10km, a 5-km-road to Bahia and Al Rahba areas, a 14-km-sub-road to serve 200 houses in Bahia. It also includes the development of another internal road to serve 100 houses in Al Rahba, covering a length of 4km. In addition, it also has planned on extension of the irrigation networks by 7km, sewerage networks by 5km and the electricity networks by 89km.

The second phase that will cost Dhs60million, includes construction of coastal roads that will serve 192 houses. It also includes establishment of a one-kilometre-sewerage network, an 8km-irrigation network, 80km-long electrical networks and 12km water networks.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 18 months, the ADM said.
