DUBAI: Over 100 volunteers comprising friends, family members and staff of a food firm in Dubai distributed over 14,000 meals to workers and people in need in Dubai.

The initiative was taken by Sadia, the region’s leading brand of frozen food, partnered with the UAE Food Bank and Dubai’s Community Development Authority (CDA) Youth Council.

Every night of Ramadan, 500 workers received a package with a full meal, including a main dish, juice, and dates. The dishes were prepared using chicken to produce tasty and nutritious meals. The CDA Youth Council was established to create a framework for social development across the emirate of Dubai, and the initiative aims to promote the concept of giving and spread a culture of volunteerism in Dubai and neighboring emirates during the Ramadan.

Patricio Rohner, CEO of One Foods, commented, “The Holy Month of Ramadan is an occasion for self-reflection and an opportunity to give back to the community. Construction workers are the heroes whose hard work transformed Dubai into one of the world’s great cities in just a few years. It was an honour for Sadia employees to show our appreciation for their tireless labor by serving filling and tasty meals made with Sadia’s chicken, and we hope that the spirit of generosity that has been exhibited by all during this month will continue throughout the year.”
