Middle East’s largest day surgery centre opens in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI: VPS Healthcare, launched its flagship Burjeel Day Surgery Center at the Arc Tower, Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, on Monday. The Center is the largest day surgery centre in the Middle East (ME) spread over 135,000sq.ft.

Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Health Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohamed Al Hamed, CEO of Aldar Properties Talal Al Dhiyebi, Chairman of Lulu Group Yussuf Ali, and other prominent personalities attended the opening of the centre.

With 36 specialised physicians, 60 nurses and over 100 support staff, the Burjeel Day Surgery Centre is the only medical facility at Reem Island and one of its kind that offers a range of treatments and services for the complete family, including one-day surgeries. The Center also provides Ayurveda treatment – an ancient system of Indian medicine – and Chiropractic – an alternative medicine to treat the musculoskeletal system, along with other specialties.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Center, Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman and Managing Director, VPS Healthcare said, “VPS Healthcare is aligned with the UAE Government’s vision of providing world-class healthcare services to its people and we believe that this center will set benchmarks for outstanding medical facilities in the UAE. The Government has always steered healthcare-centric policies and this is evident from 2018 federal budget where a significant Dhs4.5 billion has been earmarked for the healthcare sector.”

The Burjeel Day Surgery Centre facility comprises of 64 consulting suites, three operating theatres, three endoscopy suites, two recovery rooms, 24 day care beds and a robotic pharmacy.

The centre offers a wide range of treatment and OPDs for Cardiology, Dentistry, Dermatology and Cosmetology, Pediatrics, Family Medicine, ENT, Internal Medicine and Physiotherapy, amongst others.

“We have chosen the services as per the needs and requirements of the community at Reem Island and are welcome to suggestions to add to the list of services being provided,” said Michael Ghani, Director of Operations, Burjeel Day Surgery Centre.
