DUBAI: A 39-year-old Syrian expat Esmail survived an acute heart attack and got a second chance at life. The patient who had suffered from a heart attack while in the emergency room of Canadian Specialist Hospital was successfully operated on within 15 minutes into the operation theatre.

The door-to-balloon time of the critical cardiac procedure was less than 15 minutes as opposed to 90 minutes, the globally recommended standard.

With such a high prevalence of cardiovascular disorders prevalent in the region, doctors are advising the general public to be aware of symptoms of cardiac disorders and not to ignore any signs, especially those at high risk.
