MI win Al Dhaid Gold Cup

Dubai: Mohammad Boota scored a brilliant unbeaten century as Multiplex International (MI) defeated Mir CC to emerge the champions in the 10th Al Dhaid Gold Cup - 2018 tournament. The tournament is being organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council.

Needing a stiff 266 to win, Boota played an innings to remember for a long time that gave the opponents no chance of a fightback.

His unbeaten 121 coming off just 100 balls studded with five boundaries and as many sixes ensured Multiplex International overhauled the target in 38.5 overs.

Haroon Ahmed gave him a good support during the fourth wicket partnership of 159 runs to score a fine 78 off 76 deliveries, including four boundaries and an equal number of sixes. Ali Zeeshan also chipped in with a 35-ball 37.

Earlier batting first, Mir CC got off to a fine start with Syed Maqsood (35, 36b, 4x4, 1x6) and Abdullah Azhar (85, 73b, 9x4, 2x6) adding 86 runs for first wicket.

Salman Randhawa scored a 58-ball 79 while Saqlain Haider hit 24 as Mir CC amassed 265 for nine in 40 overs. For Multiplex, Ahmad Naseem and Sheraz Ahmad claimed two wickets each.

Boota was named man of the match in final for his century where as Rizwan CP ran way with Best Batsman award. Mohammad Azhar was adjudged as the best bowler and Mujahid Amin won the Player of tournament title.
