COP28

It’s a laudable decision by the United Nations to launch a revolutionary plan to transform the world’s agrifood systems at the COP28 conference in Dubai (‘UN launches ground-breaking plan to transform world’s agrifood systems at COP28,” Dec.11, Gulf Today website).

It’s a great step taken by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation and identified 10 priority area — such as livestock, soil and water, crops, diets and fisheries — where following the roadmap can help push the world closer to achieving ‘Zero Hunger’, the second of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. According to the report, as COP28 heads into its final working days in Dubai, the UN’s agriculture wing launched on Sunday a ground-breaking plan that looks to transform the world’s agrifood systems from a net emitter to a carbon sink by 2050. I am sure nothing is impossible to achieve because where there’s a will, there is a way. We need to work hard to achieve the goals set by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation.
