Laudable order

The stay on Rahul Gandhi's disqualification by the Supreme Court has not only restored faith in democracy but also upheld the principles of the judiciary. By raising the question of whether Rahul Gandhi was eligible for maximum punishment, the Supreme Court has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring fairness and justice.

In light of the Supreme Court's judgment, it is imperative that the Lok Sabha Speaker reinstate Rahul Gandhi as a member of the Lower House without delay. This would be in line with the spirit of the Supreme Court's decision and would allow him to actively participate in the remaining sessions.

The Supreme Court's intervention in this matter signifies its role as the guardian of constitutional principles and the arbiter of disputes. By questioning the severity of the punishment imposed on Rahul Gandhi, the court has emphasised the importance of considering all relevant factors and circumstances before reaching a verdict.
