The Oscars finally happened. After months of discussing and analysing the biggest award show on earth, we finally watched the stars gather in Hollywood to celebrate the finest of cinema. This week are taking a look at the biggest moments at the 2023 Oscars.

The movie which swept and dominated the whole award show was the comedy “Everything Everywhere All at Once” with a total of seven wins. These wins included Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Actress and Best Original Screenplay. Michelle Yeoh deserved her Best Actress win for the movie which tells the tale of an immigrant who is caught up in a crazy adventure as she explores alternative universes.

Critics and fans alike were delighted with the Best Supporting Actress winner Jamie Lee Curtis who also won for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Curtis gave an endearing acceptance speech where she revealed that both her parents had also been nominated for Oscars but had not won. She came across very likeable, unlike her fellow nominee Angela Bassett who sat stony faced and did not even bother to clap for Curtis after losing out with her nomination for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

The show was hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel who I don’t think was that great to be honest. Of course, there were many jokes about last year’s Will Smith slap with host Chris Rock which could not be missed. But it was his jokes with Malala Yousafzai which seemed really tasteless. She handled him perfectly though. He should not be asked back to host.
