A reticent Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Wriddhiman Saha is in the news for the first time for the wrong reasons. A player who remained silent throughout his career has created a storm in the cricket circuit soon after approaching the fag end of his career.  I am not going to comment on which journalist had forced Saha to give an interview and why. But my concern is Saha was heard saying that the BCCI President Saurav Ganguly had assured him a place in the Test format, but Indian coach Rahul Dravid suggested he hang his boots now.  A rather reticent Saha disclosed what had been told to him in person.

I feel he should have avoided saying it in public. Indian cricketers are national heroes and whatever they say or do goes global. Saha should have handled his emotions in a better way. There is no doubt that he is an excellent wicket-keeper and batsman. His contribution to the Team India will remain etched in our memories for a very long time. We love and respect him for his contribution, but he should know that he is already 37, and now Team India has many young players who have been doing very well. Team India has already picked up wicket-keeper batsmen Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan and they are doing well. Saha should have accepted gracefully what Dravid had suggested to him.
