India’s tennis ace Sania Mirza on Wednesday has announced that 2022 will be her final season on the WTA tour. She is the most successful Indian female tennis star. Sania’s announcement came after her first-round loss in the women’s doubles.

Sania is an icon for Indian girls.  Her journey from Hyderabad to the global map is incredible and inspiring. She is one of the few female sportspersons who has inspired an entire generation. She paved the way for girls to dream big.

Sania, 35, is a former world No. 1 in doubles and had a career-best ranking of 27 in singles. She is currently ranked 68th in the world.

Despite extraordinary success she remained humbled and rooted and has always avoided controversy. She was remained focused on her passion. It is sad to hear as a fan that she will say goodbye to what she has performed throughout her life. I hope once Sania retires from professional responsibility then we would like to see her inspiring young girls who can be the next Sania Mirza. She is married to a Pakistani cricket star, Shoaib Malik. We also would like to see a biopic on Sania soon, it will be worth watching. Let’s see which court she chooses to play on post retirement.
