Finally, the Messi saga has come to an end with the star player himself clearing the air (“Messi confirms stay at Barca but trains guns on club president,” Sept 5).

The humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals last month set the ball rolling, albeit in the wrong direction, for the club with Messi making his intention clear about partying ways with the ‘club of my life’.

The bone of contention is obviously the 700-million-euro release clause and now it surfaces that the Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has also played truant. Whatever it is, as a Barca fan I am happy that Messi is still with the club, even if it for only a season.
