The Aam Aadmi Party’s win in Delhi could see a surge in smaller political parties in India in the future. After Delhi was under the control of Congress woman Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for three consecutive terms, the people of the state lost their patience and decided to choose AAP as a reliable alternative a few years ago (“AAP roars in victory as BJP crouches in defeat,” Feb.12, Gulf Today).

AAP’s victory sends a strong message to the smaller parties in India.  It will help them in formulating their strategy, set a trend and overcome the supremacy of single-majority parties.

Notwithstanding, Kejriwal has a big challenge in the coming days, especially keeping to his promises and delivering on them to those who voted his party to power for the third time.

Hoping that Kejriwal will try to maintain the core of India’s secular concept, especially in Delhi, which is the heart of India.  He and his team have to work hard towards maintaining peace and see how they can help India remain strong within and outside its boundaries.
