The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) in Dubai witnessed a remarkable global recognition. Pakistan-based non-governmental organisation, KORT, has been awarded the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize during a ceremony at the Expo City Dubai.

Talking to the Gulf Today, Mohammed Akhtar, Founder & Chairman of KORT said “the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize for Best Global School in South Asia for KORT Education Complex (Pakistan), is one of the greatest achievement for us and our supporters and the children’s part of the school.”

As a non-profit organisation, KORT, has been dedicated to supporting and providing orphaned children with excellent education, boarding facilities, food, clothing, and medical care.

Two students Sumiya Bibi and Kinza Bibi represented the organisation at the COP28 at Expo Dubai, showcasing the organisation's commitment to addressing the challenges faced by orphans in a region marked by adversity.

In a momentous acknowledgement of their effort, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan presented the two students of KORT with the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize of The Best Global High School in South Asia.

“This recognition for KORT with outstanding contributions towards sustainable practices, aligns with the broader societal goal of ensuring a better future for orphans.

“Pakistan’s KORT was shortlisted alongside India and Bangladesh for this prestigious prize. A proud moment for Pakistan, and for our orphan children who received this momentous award. KORT's presence at COP28 not only signifies their commitment to the welfare of orphaned children but also positions them as global leaders in the pursuit of sustainability and positive change,” he added.
