Fog will likely blanket some coastal and inland areas of the UAE on Friday morning from 3:00 am to 8:00 am, due to distribution of weak surface pressure systems, accompanied by an extension of an upper-air high-pressure system, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

The Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers to be careful while driving in fog, and to adhere to the variable speed shown on the electronic signboard. The Police on Friday morning activated reducing speeds system to 80 km/h on Al Ain-Dubai Road, and on Al Saad-Sweihan Road.

The NCM has also expected the weather on Friday to be fair to partly cloudy. Humid by night and on Saturday morning over some areas especially westward with a chance of fog or mist formation.

The winds will be light to moderate, southeasterly becoming northwesterly, freshening at times during daytime, at a speed of 10 – 25 reaching up to 35 km/hr. The waves will be slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate, may be rough by Saturday morning in the Sea of Oman.

The NCM said that on Thursday fog began to form on Al Hayer, Al Faqaa, Masaken, Al Shuwaib, Ramah and Sweihan-Al Saad Road in Al Ain City, and on Arjan and Al Ajban in Abu Dhabi City and other scattered areas, the NCM said.

The NCM also indicated that the lowest temperature recorded in the country on Thursday was 24.7°C in Rakna area in Al Ain at 6:15 am.

The Centre appealed to individuals to be careful and exercise caution while driving during fog formation that affects the horizontal visibility, especially along the inland and coastal areas.

Saturday’s weather is expected to be fair to partly cloudy at times and low clouds will appear eastward and northward. Humid by night and Sunday morning over some areas especially in coastal areas with a probability of fog or mist formation.
