UAE citizens advised not to travel to Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea due to Marburg virus outbreak

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) has advised the UAE citizens not to travel to Tanzania and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in the period due to the outbreaks of “Marburg” virus in these states.

The Ministry, on Saturday, on its official twitter account said, “In view of the announcement by the health authorities in the Federal Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea of monitoring outbreaks of "Marburg" virus, and based on the Ministry's concern for the safety of the country's citizens, the Ministry advises to postpone travel to the Federal Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea in this period.”

The MOFAIC has also urged the UAE citizens who are currently there to exercise caution and abide by the safety instructions issued by the competent authorities.

The Ministry provides a 24/7 emergency phone number (0097180024) for UAE nationals abroad, so that they can communicate with it in emergency cases.

MOFAIC further urged the UAE citizens, who are intending to travel or who are already abord to register in the "Twajudi" service, through www.mofaic.gov.ae or via the Ministry’s smart application “UAEMOFAIC”.

"Twajudi" is a service provided by the Ministry to facilitate communication with UAE nationals abroad, assist them, and coordinate their repatriation in case of an emergency or crisis.
