Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi has shared a photo of himself exercising aboard the International Space Station on Friday.

Al Neyadi wrote on Twitter, “On Earth, exercising is important. In space, it's vital. Aboard the International Space Station, we exercise for 2.5 hours every day to avoid muscle atrophy and bone loss triggered by microgravity.”

The MBR space centre said on Twitter, “Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi and his Crew-6 colleagues have started to work on their tasks aboard the ISS.

“Sultan is seen in the Japanese KIBO module which hosts experiments that focus on different fields including space medicine, biology and Earth observation.”

Al Neyadi also shared images of some samples of tomatoes that were previously grown aboard the International Space Station, in preparation for analysis as part of a study on sustainable food security in space (Veg-05 agricultural space experiment).

The four Crew-6 members are two NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Warren Hoburg, Russian cosmonaut, Andrey Fedyaev, and Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi.

On March 8, Al Neyadi shared breathtaking selfies from the ISS.

Al Neyadi said on Twitter, “From space, I salute earth. I salute our homeland and its leaders. I salute all those who carried Zayed’s Ambition in their hearts and aim high to the sky. The dream has come true and now we dream bigger.”

Al Neyadi took selfies with the planet earth visible through the giant windows of the ISS.

Social media users were stunned by the images and shared some encouraging comments.
