His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced that additional monthly grants will be given to Sharjah retirees of federal entities and other institutions across the UAE and will be deposited in their bank accounts to ensure decent living for them, effective from January 2023.

In a telephone conversation with Hassan Yaqoub, Secretary General of Sharjah Media Council, through the Direct Line programme broadcast live on Sharjah Radio and TV, Sheikh Sultan said the pension for Sharjah senior retirees who used to work in the Government of Sharjah was raised to enable them to live a decent life.

“We are now working on improving the living conditions of the emirate’s retirees from ministries and other institutions across the UAE, considering that the Social Services Department used throughout the past period to give them subsidies that were not enough. Based on this, we have decided to give those retirees additional monthly grants to be deposited in their bank accounts, effective from January 2023,” he added.

Starting next Monday, around 1,000 retirees from federal entities and other institutions across the UAE will enter the payroll of the Government of Sharjah, and the grants will be given to them from January 2023, he said.

In light of the necessary procedures that need some time to be completed, the remaining 3,500 retirees will be given the grants later on but will receive them in full with a retrospective effect from January 2023, he added.
