Man to pay Dhs100,000 for sitting with another’s wife in a car alone, court rules

The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Matters ordered a man to pay Dhs100,000 in compensation to another for the psychological  damage he suffered from because of seeing him and his wife sitting alone in a vehicle.
The Court convicted the defendant and the plaintiff’s wife for committing a sin.

The incident dates back to the time, when a man saw his wife sitting with a man alone in a car, prompting him to sue that man, demanding be obligated to pay him Dhs200,000 in compensation for psychological damage that he sustained.

He also demanded to oblige him to pay fees and expenses.

The plaintiff indicated that the defendant committed a sin with his wife, as he witnessed them with each other alone in a vehicle.

Accordingly, the Criminal Court convicted the wife and the defendant in their presence, fining them Dhs10,000 each.  

The Court saw that the act committed by the defendant and the woman was a sin, as being alone with her without a legal bond in the vehicle is considered a sin.

The verdict that was issued against the wife and the man who was final and irrevocable, and thus the defendant's guilt was proven, which requires compensation.

The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Matters considered that the plaintiff had suffered psychological damage that affected his honour and reputation, along with his suffering from sadness, grief, pain and psychological hurt.

Therefore, the court obliged the defendant to pay Dhs100,000 in compensation to the plaintiff, along with the fees and expenses.
