The Court of Misdemeanors in Dubai sentenced an Asian to one month in jail with suspended sentence to be followed by deportation for attempting to travel to Canada through a fake visa, which was detected by the immigration officer at the Dubai Airport.

The incident dates back to last September, when an immigration officer at Dubai Airport detected a fake visa stamp on a passport of an Asian, who intended to travel to Canada.

The officer found the visa was fake when he examined it by a device designated to detect forgery of such types of posters.

Once the visa was confirmed fake, the traveler was booked and transferred to the competent authorities.

During interrogation, the accused said that he had obtained a visa to travel to Canada in return for amount that equals Dhs10,000 from a tourism office in a neighboring country, claiming that he did not know that it was fake.

The Court convicted him and issued the aforementioned verdict.
