The Qatari Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of two people over a video that showed a young man using the national currency in a manner that is considered offensive and derogatory.

The ministry said in a tweet on its official account, "With reference to the video clip circulating on some social networking sites, about a person trespassing and abusing the Qatari currency, the concerned person and the person who filmed the video were arrested and referred to the competent authorities to proceed with the procedures followed in this regard."

A video went viral on social media of a young man rolling Qatari currency notes on his bed and then wiping his nose.

In another scene, he placed currency notes on a toilet paper rim and then he was seen wiping his shoes with it.

This angered many commentators on the clip, who considered it an insult and called for his quick arrest.

A Twitter user said, “This resident was arrested, and the necessary measures have been taken by the competent authorities.”

Another said, “This is a young resident teenager who thinks that his provocative work will be followed by millions!!

In general, he was arrested and appropriate measures were taken!!”
