The Abu Dhabi Police arrested two Asians who used part of their sponsor’s farm to grow 14 marijuana plants (cannabis). According to a tip-off received from security sources, the defendants had planted cannabis in a farm where they worked for promotion purposes.

After taking the necessary legal procedures, the police raided the farm where they arrested the defendants with 14 cannabis plants. The Public Prosecution ordered that the cannabis plants be uprooted and kept.

Investigations revealed that the defendants took advantage of the fact that the owner of the farm was not in the habit of visiting his farm regularly and grew these plants in an isolated part of the farm.

Brigadier Taher Al Dhaheri, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate in the Criminal Security Sector, called on farm owners to follow up on their sponsored workers and urged them not to commit any legal violations including the possession of prohibited items or growing narcotics.

He also stressed the necessity for farm owners to be familiar with how narcotic plants look like and not to hesitate to call the police if such plants are discovered in their farms. Al Dhaheri called on the public to contact the Aman service on 8002626 to submit reports or information at any time.
