His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has donated the seventh set of original manuscripts to Islamic Manuscripts House (IMH) of Al Qasimia University.

These are added to the house’s inventory of manuscripts, which Sheikh Sultan is keen to donate to the house to be made available to researchers and specialists for perusal and study.

The batch included many original manuscripts whose topics varied to include language, grammar, morphology, hadith, jurisprudence and interpretation in the sciences of the Holy Quran, the statutes, logic, beliefs, philosophy and other sciences covered written in Arabic and Persian.

Sheikh Sultan also gifted the House of Manuscripts at Al Qasimia University in Sharjah 278 volumes, representing the seventh group of his donations to the House, of which 274 include original manuscripts, and 4 ancient stone volumes.

All of these volumes contain various and multiple topics, including language, morphology, and hadith.

Dr Awad Al Khalaf, Acting Director of Al Qasimia University (AQU), told the Direct Line programme of Sharjah Radio and Television that researchers, investigators, auditors, and graduate students inside and outside the UAE will benefit from these volumes, as they are fertile material for theses.

Thus, the total of the volumes gifted to the house by Sheikh Sultan amounted to approximately 1,700 volumes, according to Dr Al Khalaf.

With these qualitative donations, the Manuscripts House at Al Qasimia University continues its intellectual and cultural leadership, calling on researchers, those interested and specialists in the field of Islamic history, jurisprudence and other sciences to benefit from the rare and precious manuscripts available there.

This donation is the seventh among the collections that Sheikh Sultan gives to the Islamic Manuscripts House of Al Qasimia University every time, which currently includes the most precious manuscripts, the rarest original documents, and ancient lithographs in all fields of science and knowledge, which were written in many languages.

SHARJAH RULER PROMOTES ARABIC: Academics and thought leaders have spoken high of the efforts made by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting the promotion of the Arabic Language, including the recent production of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language.

This came in a seminar, organised by the Arabic Language Centre in Mauritania here, in which the Mauritanian Minister of Culture, Youth, Sports and Relations, Khattari Ould Cheibani, and Dr. Mohammed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of the Arabic Language Academy (ALA) in Sharjah, participated, along with a number of the heads and representatives of Arab academies and men of letters.

The seminar highlighted the achievements stemming from the completion of the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language and the tireless efforts made by the ALA in association with its peers in other Arab countries to issue 17 volumes of the historical dictionary.

The Mauritanian minister expressed his country’s appreciation for the efforts of Sharjah under the leadership of Sheikh Sultan in promoting the Arabic language and supporting writers, scholars and poets.

REST HOUSES FOR FISHERMEN: His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah directed the establishment of two rest houses for the elderly and fishermen in the cities of Khor Fakkan and Kalba, for gathering, meeting, monitoring the entry of boats, and the following up of their daily work.

The new rest houses are similar to the rest houses and councils established by the Department of Public Works in Sharjah in the city of Dibba.

Sheikh Sultan approved 15 different requests from the fishermen of the Hamriyah region, which were forwarded to the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), to take the necessary measures for each request, by the concerned authorities.
