A second 4.3 Magnitude earthquake on Richter scale was recorded in South of Iran at 15:50, 15/06/2022 UAE time, according to the NCM’s National Seismic Network.

A slight tremor was felt in the UAE.

The authorities said that seven earthquakes struck off Iran’s southern Kish Island on Wednesday, rattling UAE, Qatar and other areas across the Gulf.

Moreover, three earthquakes struck off Iran’s southern Kish Island in short span time on Wednesday.

The NCM said, “An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 struck south of Iran today at 10:06 "UAE time… slightly felt in some areas of the country."

The US Geological Survey said two magnitude 4.7 temblors struck, followed by a 5.3 off the island near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Qatar's Seismic Information Center similarly said residents there felt the magnitude 5.3 quake without any impact on the country.

Iranian state television reported that authorities deployed rescue teams to the town of Jenah in Hormozgan province, though no damage and casualties were initially reported. Jenah is some 1,080 kilometres (670 miles) south of the capital, Tehran.

Iran lies on major seismic faults and experiences one earthquake a day on average. In 2003, a magnitude 6.6 earthquake flattened the historic city of Bam, killing 26,000 people.

A magnitude 7 earthquake that struck western Iran in 2017 killed more than 600 people and injured more than 9,000.
