Fog blankets several areas of UAE

For almost nine continuous hours, fog covered some inland areas in the country on Sunday, from 12:00am until 9:00am, because of a weak surface pressure systems associated with an upper air high pressure, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).

Fog began to form on Umm Al Quwain-Ras Al Khaimah Road, Dibba Al Fujairah, Dibba Al Hisn in Sharjah, Emirates Road towards Ras Al Khaimah, Al Minhad and on Al Qudra Road, separate areas in Dubai, Dubai International Airport, Sharjah International Airport and separate areas in Ajman.

The lowest temperature recorded in the country on Sunday was at 21.1°C at 5:45am in Barakah area in the Al Dhafra region, according to the NCM.

The Centre called on road users and motorists to exercise precaution and follow traffic instructions during fog and the low horizontal visibility.

The Abu Dhabi Police also advised drivers to adhere to and abide by the speed specified on signs and electronic signboards on the emirate’s roads during fog formation.

The NCM also expects that the weather on Monday will be fair in general and partly cloudy at times over some areas during daytime especially eastward.  It will be humid by night and Tuesday morning with a probability of fog formation over some coastal and inland areas.

The weather on Tuesday is also expected to be fair in general and partly cloudy at times over some areas especially eastward, with slight increase in temperatures.

It will be humid by night and on Wednesday morning over some coastal and inland areas.

The NCM also said that the weather on Wednesday is expected to be fair to partly cloudy at times especially eastward with another increase in temperatures.

It will be humid by night and Thursday morning over some coastal areas.
