Surgeon fined Dhs100,000, obligated to pay Dhs200,000 in blood money
The defendant performed a hip replacement surgery to the victim in a private hospital in Dubai.
The Judicial Authority of the Civil Court at Dubai Courts issued a ruling convicting the defendant in the case of the victim, Betty Rita Fernandez, 42.
The defendant was fined Dhs100,000 for the charge levelled against him and was obligated to pay Dhs200,000 in blood money to the legal heirs in compensation for the financial and psychological harms they had befallen them.
The case dated back to a complaint filed by the victim’s husband against the defendant who performed the surgery to his wife that culminated in her death on May 2019 as a result of a medical error. The defendant performed a hip replacement surgery to the victim in a private hospital in Dubai.
