“From this spot, I look outside and see the markers of the great calamity that devastated Beirut on August 4, 2020, and in this area, we inaugurate the Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Centre for the Treatment of COVID-19 Patients,” Mikati said in his remarks.

“Great appreciation to the UAE and to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed for his generosity and his ongoing interest in Lebanon. Lebanon will not forget that the UAE keeps supporting other countries without expecting anything in return,” he added.

“Let’s not forget that this hospital was the result of former prime minister Saad Hariri’s good and meritorious efforts, which I applaud from this vantage point. I wish he were here with us, but God willing, he will be in Beirut shortly,” he said.

“I must also mention Minister of Health Firas Abiad’s tremendous effort and professionalism in his performance as a doctor and a minister,” he added.

Mikati called on citizens to follow the government’s health rules in order to stay safe, praying to Allah that the pandemic would be over soon.
