Fire in Ras Al Khaimah oil factory brought under control

The firefighting teams brought under control a major fire that broke out in an oil factory in Al Jazirah Al Hamra’s industrial area on Monday evening, said Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence Department, adding that no casualties were reported.

A report to this effect was received by the police operations at 7:30pm on Monday, said Brigadier General Mohammad Abdallah Al Zaabi, Director of Ras Al Khaimah Civil Defence Department, who is in the scene. Al Zaabi was accompanied by Colonel Hamad Salmeen, Head of Operations Department, and Lieutenant Colonel Salem Al Shaer, Head of Stations Section.

As many as four extinguishing teams from the department as well as from Al Jazirah Al Hamra, Al Rafaah and Digdaga stations alongside support teams from Umm Al Quwain rushed to the fire site and used foam to put out the fire. The teams managed to bring the fire under control in almost one hour, Al Zaabi said.

The teams later started cooling the site for two hours, using water tanks provided by the Ras Al Khaimah Ceramics, he added, noting that the fire caused losses that have not been estimated yet but no casualties were reported.

The file of the fire was handed over to the competent authorities in Ras Al Khaimah to find out what caused the fire and complete the necessary legal measures.
