The Australian Supreme Court ordered Victoria Police to pay $8.8 million to a man who was paralyzed after police officers used excessive force against him due to noises coming from his home.

Chris Karadagles said he was at his home in Warrnambool, southwest Victoria, in November 2017, when three police officers showed up and forcibly removed him from his home and beat him.

The Court documents affirmed that Karadagles was at home, and posed no threat to police officers, or anyone else.

The documents proved that one of the officers used excessive force, which left him paralyzed after being severely hit on the spine, and developed post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety.
