Sultan approves over 780 scholarships for Emiratis

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved 788 scholarships from the Scholarships Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (Sewa), for undergraduate Emirati students at the University of Sharjah and the American University of Sharjah. These include 661 scholarships for the University of Sharjah and 127 scholarships for the American University of Sharjah.

Khawla Bin Hadda, Head of Scholarships Department at Sewa, said via the Direct Line programme broadcast live on Sharjah Radio and TV: “The Sewa scholarships are available to Sharjah students from all academic disciplines, without exception, provided the related conditions for obtaining scholarships apply to the students.”

She explained that letters would be sent to the scholarship recipients to comply with the requirements, including that the grade point average should not be less than 2 and that the credit hours should not be less than 12.

New scholarships are expected to be approved within the next two weeks, she said.

In another development, Sheikh Sultan has issued Emiri Decree regarding the appointment of the Chairman of the Holy Quran Academy (HQA) in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Emiri Decree No. (29) of 2021 stipulates that Dr. Khalifa Musabah Bin Ahmed Al Tunaiji will serve as Chairman of the Holy Quran Academy.

The Emiri Decree is effective from the day of issuance, and other competent authorities should implement its provisions, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.

SHARJAH CROWN PRINCE ISSUES RESOLUTION ON EMIRI COURT DIRECTOR IN AL HAMRIYAH: Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of Sharjah Executive Council, has issued the Council’s Resolution No. (27) of 2021 regarding the promotion and appointment of a director of the Emiri Court in Al Hamriyah region.

The Resolution stipulated that Saeed Obaid Saif Al Shamsi should be promoted to the rank of a director of a department on the system of special jobs in the Government of Sharjah, and he shall be appointed as the Director of the Emiri Court in Al Hamriyah region.

The Resolution is effective from the day of issuance, and other competent authorities should implement its provisions, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.

SHARJAH MUNICIPALITY (SM) COMPLETES RUBBER WALKWAYS AND FLOORS IN PARKS: Sharjah Municipality (SM) has announced the completion of rubber walkways and floors in Al Qarayen Park 3-4-5, Al Nahda Park, Al Safya Park, and Al Noaf Park 1 according to the best international standards during the first half of 2021.

This comes in implementation of the visions and directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to follow a healthy lifestyle and provide an appropriate environment for practising sports and in line with SM’s strategy to achieve sustainability and quality of life.

Sawsan Butti Bin Hadid, Director of Facilities and Projects Department, confirmed that the municipality was keen to implement the visions and directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, in providing the appropriate environment for practising sports and high-quality services to the people of Emirate of Sharjah.

She indicated that the municipality implemented a rubber walkway in Al Qarayen Park 4, with a length of 1,106 metres, and another in Al Qarayen Park 5, with a length of 1,040 metres.

The Director of Facilities and Projects Department added that the municipality covered the children’s play area in Al Qarayen Park 3 with rubber floors on an area of 535 square metres, Al Nahda Park on an area of 960 square metres, Al Safya Park on an area of 870 square metres and Al Nouf Park 1 on an area of 875 square metres.

Recently, Sheikh Sultan inspected several vital projects in the city of Kalba.

The inspection comes as part of his permanent tours to follow up on various projects in all cities and regions of the emirate that contribute to providing distinguished infrastructure, service and tourism facilities that attract residents and visitors.
